A classic of Spain’s Golden Age of Theatre, written by its most important playwright, Lope de Vega: When a small town is caught in the front lines of the Reconquista, it must endure occupation by an ally of the Catholic Monarchs, the Order of Calatrava. But the knights prove to be anything but allies of the villagers. After a series of horrific incidents, the townspeople rise up against the Order’s cruel leader and liberate their village. The price is high, but to survive, everyone must stand together.
